(take that arts council that gets 30%) haha. yeah, and i priced it at 100. the lady i asked there said that 'ran the gamut' so yeah... thanks for the advice! hope you did well in your competition, too!

WOOT. I'm SO glad you won something! Isn't it gratifying, to know that your art is appreciated? And that frog one was spectacular...
I won't know how I did in the contest for a while but we'll see. I'll let you know.

They get 30%?! I've never heard of that...that SUCKS.
Anyway, you picked excellent photos to enter. Seriously, I would considering buying the light graffiti one and the toad one if I was them in a gallery (and had the spare change :))
I would price them all differently according to how good you personally think they are, but all in the same vicinity. Since they will be signed prints (I'm assuming) you should probably figure out how much the actual print is going to cost to get made (mine are around $7.75 for an 8x10 at, say, Kinko's). To that price you should add the actual print price. I would say from $55-$75. That's on the low end of a professional deal, and your photos are definitely professional (but you have to start low, and then get established, no matter how good your stuff is).
Hope that (very long essay-type reply) helps!

SUPER GOOD LUCK

that helped A LOT. thanks! and since my dad has photo paper and a laser printer, i won't have to worry about the printing- just the cost to enter them and the frames they're making me buy. fucking arts council.

i'm making a cardboard sign to take that says 'needs college book money.' lolz.

thanks again. i'll let you know how it goes.

hey.... got a question for ya...
i've been asked to do a small commission for someone. they want a portrait with two people... it'll end up being 9.5x12. i think i'll just to graphite pencil.

so... how much do you think i should shoot for? i thought i'd ask a seasoned pro for advice.

For a professional job, I would charge $114--that's $1 per square inch. But if it's a "small commission" and you don't feel comfortable doing a professional commission yet, I would suggest possibly half that. I started out doing 9x12 graphite commissions for $50, which is a fair price when you're working as a student. Hope that helps!
